Walter Ross

Aupres de ma blonde was composed in 1997. It is a set of frolicking variations on the well-known French drinking song. There are seven variations in all with much comical imitation among the three instruments. These lines are woven into a rich texture of oboe family timbres.

The work is about five minutes long and would make a lively concert opener or encore. It is dedicated to Jennifer Paull.
