Prelude and Aria AI SI 004 for Oboe d'Amore (or English horn) and Piano Edwin Carr These two pieces were written with the darker side of the Oboe d'Amore in mind. The style is restrained and the harmonic and formal considerations are more exploratory than expressive. In constrast to the prelude, the Aria is wayward in mood and has the feeling of extemporisation. This work was written for Jennifer Paull in 1990 and funds were made available by the New Zealand Arts Council and the Composers Guild of New Zealand. Edwin Carr Amoris scores are exclusively available in traditional bound format with global postal distribution and secure payment from Crowther's of Canterbury. Our full downloadable library is being prepared. |
