Walter Ross

The beauty of Virginia's Blue Ridge mountains was my source of inspiration for this work which was written in 1998 for Jennifer Paull. The mountains are near my home and I wished to express the wonderful colors and soft air of autumn there through the warm tone of the oboe d'amore. (I chose the cor anglais as an alternative instrument). Autumn Pastorale is a one-movement work about six minutes in performance.
